The milk always gets left behind

Posted 23/3/2026

The grocery list sits in your pocket like a treasure map to dinner, yet somehow you still end up standing in your kitchen staring at everything except the one thing you actually needed.

It happens to everyone. You walk into the store with confidence. You've got your list. You've got your game plan. You even remembered to bring those reusable bags this time. But somewhere between the cereal aisle and checkout, your brain decides that butter simply doesn't exist anymore.

Some folks blame it on distraction. Others swear the store is playing mind games with those end-cap displays of chips you definitely didn't need but absolutely bought. The real culprit though? You made that list before your brain was actually awake.

See, lists written in the morning fog are like drafts of emails you write at midnight. They seem brilliant at the time, but there's usually something crucial missing. Your brain hasn't had its fuel yet. It's running on fumes and good intentions. That's a recipe for standing in the dairy section wondering if you even own a refrigerator.

Coffee fixes this problem real quick. Not the hurried kind you slam while grabbing keys. The kind where you actually sit down, let your brain boot up properly, and write that list like a functioning human. Suddenly you remember butter exists. And eggs. And that weird spice your recipe demands.

The grocery gods are less forgiving when you show up unprepared.

Their Organic Breakfast Roast was really good. I recognize that they rotate seasonal blends for this one, but friends tell me that you can’t go wrong with this roast at any time.

Isn’t this perfect reading material while you're making that grocery list?
